About Chris
Chris has a lifetime of experience in public service. From active military service to volunteering in his own community and with Richardson ISD, he has prioritized his commitment to his community throughout his life. Recently, Chris served on the Richardson ISD Bond Committee where he spent months learning about facilities and needs throughout the district. He is also an active volunteer at Moss Haven Elementary and Forest Meadow Jr. High, where his kids attend, and has been the recipient of multiple service awards for his work with the City and non-profits.
Chris works as a State of Texas licensed Professional Engineer (Civil), focusing on Engineering, Construction and Program Management of public infrastructure projects for numerous local clients. Previously, he followed in his father’s footsteps of military service by serving in the US Army for more than eight years. As an active duty Engineer Officer, he led troops, trained for combat, participated in peacekeeping and executed combat operations in the Republic of Korea, Colorado, Missouri, North Carolina, the Republic of Kosovo (formerly part of Yugoslavia) and Iraq. In between these two career paths, Chris spent 2 years in manufacturing as a logistics manager for TAMKO Roofing Products at their Dallas manufacturing facility.
Originally born in Hawaii, Chris spent time in several states while his father’s US Navy and private business careers progressed. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Engineering from Texas A&M University while also serving as a member of the Corps of Cadets.
Chris and his wife, Kristi, have two children, Avery (12) and Caleb (10). Kristi is a tax accountant with a top international accounting firm and serves as the President of the Moss Haven Elementary Farm Board. The Poteet family is active in their church community at Park Cities Baptist, and they also enjoy spending time with their neighbors and friends, playing sports at Moss Haven and Forest Meadow and visiting family in West Texas.
